IMPORTANT POINTS
Catholic Church Insurances Limited is not a registered health fund and therefore cannot pay all Medical expenses. We are prohibited under the federal Health Act from paying any benefit which is claimable under Medicare, and we cannot pay "the gap". It is essential that you tell your voluntary workers about the limited payable medical expenses. Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance is not a substitute for Health Insurance, and should not be compared to Health Insurance.
Because Voluntary Workers are unpaid workers, federal legislation permits us to pay hospital benefits and ancillary benefits, (however no Medicare entitlements are payable). Some examples of medical expenses payable by this policy include:
- Hospital accommodation expenses for private patients*
- Theatre fees for private patients*
- Physiotherapy*
- Chiropractic*
- Pharmaceuticals*
- Osteopath*
- Ambulance*
- Hire of Surgical Aids and Appliances*
- Repair or replacement of prescribed glasses or contact lenses*
* Incurred as a result of Bodily Injury to the Voluntary Worker
The maximum death benefit payable for any person with no dependants is limited to $10,000. The maximum claimable amount under the policy per event is limited to the Capital Sum Insured or Weekly Benefit, whichever is the greater amount.
Compensation for any person aged over 80 years is limited to $10,000 in total.
The maximum claimable amount per occurrence (and involving more than one person) is limited to $2,500,000.
