Pluvius Insurance
THE POLICY
Pluvius insurance is a contract that pays the total sum insured to the insured if rainfall equals or exceeds the stipulated measurement of rain at a specified location during the selected time period.
WHO NEEDS THIS COVER?
Schools, colleges, churches and other church organisations where special events are important for fund raising and where support of such events or activities can be adversely effected by rain.
DEDUCTIBLE/EXCESS
No deductible applies, if sufficient rain falls within the selected period of hours the total sum insured is paid to the insured.
LIMITS OF LIABILITY
The contract is a total loss contract and the sum insured is the limit of liability.
FIRE SERVICE LEVIES and STAMP DUTY
Fire services levies are not applicable, stamp duty applies in those states where church business is not exempt.
FEATURES and BENEFITS
- The policy is designed to provide compensation in the event of rain disrupting a fete, social or other fund raising activity, resulting in a loss of expenses or a shortfall in the anticipated takings.
- The insured selects the hour or number of hours that are most crucial for the success of the event. The period may be prior to the commencement of the event as rain falling before an event may influence the attendance.
- The policy pays when a pre determined amount of rain falls at a specified location within the selected period.
- Cover must be requested 14 days or more prior to the event.
OPTIONS/EXTENSIONS
- The insured selects the period which can be one or more hours on one or more days. The longer the period, the more likely rain will occur and therefore the longer the period, the higher the premium.
- Rainfall of 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 mm can be selected. The lower the amount of rainfall selected, the higher the possibility of the level of rainfall being reached and therefore the higher the premium.
IMPORTANT POINTS
- No refund of premium will be granted where cover is cancelled within 14 days or less of the event.
- Where the selected amount of rain or a higher amount falls within the nominated time period and this is verified by a predetermined and prearranged official rain gauge reader the sum insured will be paid in full, no amount is otherwise payable.
- The official rain recorder/reader must be the nearest to the event , must be prearranged with the fee paid by the insured and forwarded to the recorder at least 14 days prior to the event.
