Flood Preparation
Over the last six months Australians have endured bushfires, floods and cyclones.
As our environment grows increasingly volatile, events like flood continue to be a problem for communities across the country and around the world.
Though there is little we can do to prevent floods and other natural disasters, it is possible to minimise the impact of these events by understanding your risks and preparing in advance.
During large scale disasters, the parish is often called on to lead the faithful through the ensuing torment and emotional distress, it is therefore crucial parishes are in the best position to make a swift recovery.
One of the most important steps in preparing to reduce the impact of floods is investigating your risks with the local council. By understanding and knowing your flood risks, you are in a better position to both manage the risks associated with floods and recover.
In addition, having an emergency flood plan in place can save precious time when a disaster is imminent, by providing clear guidance and direction on managing the emergency.
Of course in combination with understanding and planning to manage the event, having insurance to cover you for flood is just one of the many risk management strategies you can employ to assist your recovery.
